The easiest way to expand your audience
Plus, relieve stress by treating yourself to a spa day on July 1
Hello storytellers! Let’s face it: once you get on the content treadmill, it’s hard to slow down. You enter a never-ending loop of creating, repurposing, promoting… Often, this means that it’s hard to find time for self-care and relaxation. So, why not celebrate everything you’ve accomplished in the first half of 2022 with a spa day? We’re talking yoga, refreshments, skin rejuvenation and more!
Interested? Dr. Helen Hsieh, MD is hosting exactly this type of event on July 1. If you’re in NYC, stop by and treat yourself. You deserve it.
Things you should know about
Content distribution just got a makeover: Let’s face it, building an audience can be a huge pain in the neck. Well, Volv is the new startup in town that wants to help you solve just that. They come with a pre-built audience and help storytellers discover more new fans who’d be interested in their content. And it happens to be free for everyone. We recommend you check it out.
The secret to newsletter shares: Ever since Morning Brew made news cool by getting college kids share it with their friends, referrals have become the Holy Grail of newsletter growth. However, you can probably get people to share your newsletter with a few simple formatting tricks. Brett Dashevsky breaks down the best ways to do this here.
Social networks are betting on diverse creators: This week Snap became the latest social media platform to launch a fund for underrepresented creators. The company will be supporting 25 emerging Black creators who will receive $10k a month for a full year. By doing so, Snap is following in the footsteps of Meta, YouTube and Pinterest, all of which have launched funds for underrepresented creators. Long live diversity!
TikTok’s queen has been dethroned: Being Lame is officially cool. Seriously. Senegalese-born Italian comedian Khaby Lame just unseated TikTok star Charlie D’Amelio as the most followed creator on the platform. He’s got 142.9 million followers, compared to D’Amelio’s 142.3 million. How he did it? By stitching complicated life hack videos with videos of himself doing the same thing in a much simpler way. Simple is beautiful indeed.

Just for fun
What if your laptop doubled up as a piece of domino? The employees at Technology Recyclers, an Indiana-based laptop recycling company decided to set 2,910 laptops as pieces of domino and topple them right after. Not only does it sound fun, it actually landed them a Guinness World Records title. But as cool as setting a world record may be, these folks had a different goal in mind: to raise awareness of the waste we produce with every laptop. Mission accomplished, with bragging rights to boot.
With love,
